Website redesign in Mumbai
Website redesign services that protect what already works
We rebuild slow, dated or hard-to-update websites from our Andheri West studio, keeping the pages and URLs that already bring in enquiries and protecting your search visibility with careful redirects and checks.
Social Dealers is a website redesign company in Mumbai, working from Andheri West since 2012. We rebuild websites that have stopped pulling their weight: sites that look dated, load slowly, are hard to update or no longer match the business behind them. We do it carefully, so the search visibility and enquiries you already have are protected rather than thrown away.
A redesign is not a fresh start from zero. Your current site has pages Google already knows, links from other websites pointing at it, and content your customers rely on. Good website redesign services treat all of that as an asset, not as clutter to be cleared.
Signs your website needs a redesign
- It is slow on a phone. Pages take too long to appear over mobile data, or the layout jumps around while it loads.
- Nobody on your team can update it. Every small change needs a developer, or the person who built it can no longer be reached.
- It no longer describes what you do. Your services, locations or customers have changed, but the site still tells an older story.
- It runs on an old theme or page builder that cannot be updated without something breaking.
- It has been hacked, or you suspect it has. Strange redirects, spam pages in Google results and browser warnings are all signs.
- Enquiries are hard to make. Forms fail, phone numbers are not tap-to-call, or the contact page is buried.
- You hesitate to share the link. If you would rather not send the site to a new client, that is reason enough.
What we keep and what we rebuild
Every redesign starts with an audit of the existing site. We look at which pages bring in visits and enquiries in Google Search Console and your analytics, which pages other websites link to, and which content is still accurate. That tells us what to protect.
Usually we keep:
- URLs that already rank or attract links, wherever the new structure allows
- Content that is accurate and useful, edited where needed rather than rewritten for the sake of it
- Your domain, brand assets and any integrations that work well
Usually we rebuild:
- The design and page templates, from desktop down to mobile
- The navigation and page structure, so visitors reach your services faster
- The code underneath, replacing heavy themes and plugins with a lighter build
- Forms, calls to action and contact routes
Protecting your Google rankings during a redesign
This is where redesigns most often go wrong. A new site goes live, old URLs stop working, and the pages Google was sending people to now return errors. We plan for this from the first conversation. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, but a careful migration avoids the losses that come from avoidable mistakes.
- A full URL inventory. We list every page on the old site from a crawl, the XML sitemap and Search Console, so nothing is missed.
- Keeping URLs where we can. If an address already works, the safest option is usually not to change it.
- A 301 redirect map. Where a URL has to change, each old address points to its closest new equivalent with a permanent 301 redirect, rather than everything being dumped on the homepage.
- Metadata carried across. Page titles, meta descriptions, headings and image alt text are reviewed and moved over, and improved where they were weak.
- Search Console checks after launch. We submit the new sitemap, test the redirects and watch the indexing and crawl reports, so anything missed is fixed quickly.
We did exactly this for our own website. When we rebuilt socialdealers.in, we mapped the old URLs to their new homes, set up 301 redirects and checked Search Console after the switch. The same process goes into every client redesign.
Content migration
Moving content is more careful work than it sounds. Service pages, blog posts, product listings, images and downloadable files all need to arrive in the new site in the right place, with old formatting cleaned up and broken internal links fixed. On larger sites we move content with scripts where that makes sense, then check the important pages by hand. If some of your copy needs rewriting, we can help with that too. Our guide on what to include in a website brief is a useful way to think about what should stay.
Moving off old or hacked hosting
Many redesigns begin because the hosting has become the problem: an ageing server, an unsupported PHP version, no backups, or a site that has been compromised. We move the site to clean, maintained hosting and rebuild it from trusted code rather than copying infected files across. Passwords and access are changed, and regular backups are set up. After launch, our hosting and maintenance service can keep the site updated and watched.
From old WordPress themes and page builders to faster builds
A lot of business websites run on a WordPress theme bought long ago, stacked with a page builder and a pile of plugins. They work until an update breaks the layout or the pages grow heavier with every change. There are two sensible routes out:
- A clean WordPress build with a lightweight custom theme and only the plugins you need, if your team likes the WordPress editor. For online stores, that can mean a tidier WooCommerce build.
- A Laravel build where the site needs custom logic, member areas or integrations, which can grow into a web application later.
Either way, the aim is the same: pages that load quickly on a phone and a site your team can edit without worrying about breaking it.
How a redesign runs
- Audit. We review the current site, its traffic, its search performance in Search Console and its technical health.
- Plan. We agree a sitemap, decide what is kept, merged or retired, and draft the URL and redirect map.
- Design. Key pages are designed for desktop and mobile and shared with you for feedback.
- Build and migrate. We build the new site on a staging copy, move the content across and set up the redirects.
- Test. Forms, redirects, speed, mobile layouts and metadata are checked before anything goes live.
- Launch and monitor. We switch over, submit the sitemap and keep an eye on Search Console afterwards.
Our how we work page explains approvals and handover, and our guide to website project stages covers what each stage involves.
What affects the cost of a redesign
We quote after we have seen the current site, because redesigns vary widely. The main factors are:
- The number of pages and distinct page templates
- How much content is moving across, and whether any of it needs rewriting
- The size and complexity of the redirect map
- Whether the platform is changing, for example from a page builder to Laravel
- Features such as ecommerce, multi-language content or third-party integrations
- Whether the site needs cleaning up after a hack
Our guide to website cost factors in India explains each of these in more detail.
